Family Medical Psychotherapy

For the past thirty seven years Doctor Enzer has practiced Family Medical Psychotherapy.

Doctor Enzer began his training in Family Medical Psychotherapy during the summer of 1962. He participated for about 100 hours in a workshop conducted by Israel Zwerling, M.D.

From behind a one-way screen he and the small group watched Doctor Zwerling work with the same family intensively three times a week. Afterwards, he and the group "supervised" Doctor Zwerling.

During his psychiatric residency and fellowship, Doctor Enzer had about 200 hours training in Conjoint Marital Medical Psychotherapy. With a small group, he observed on closed circuit television James L. Titchener, M.D. treat the same continuous case and then participated with the group in "supervising" Doctor Titchener after each session.

During his training as a Child and Adolescent Fellow, Doctor Enzer had about 500 hours of supervision. Again, using the one-way screen technique and closed circuit TV, he and two other Fellows rotated treating families on a daily basis.

The supervisors to - Joseph V. Cresci, Jr., M.D. and Harriet Rappoport, M.S.W. to - supervised over the telephone and by coming into the room. After each session, Doctor Enzer participated as these two supervisors and the other Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellows discussed Doctor Enzer's treatment of the family.

Doctor Enzer has also taken Family Medical Psychotherapy workshops with the late Nathan Ackerman, M.D. and with Salvador Minuchin, M.D.

Additionally, Doctor Enzer worked briefly as a co-therapist with Carl A. Whitaker, M.D.

He trained at Institute conducted by the American Group Psychiatry Association in Chicago, 1968. He trained at a work shop conducted by the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center in 1968.

He had 75 hours of supervised experience in Group Medical Psychotherapy during the remainder of his training at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, working with a group of adult patients and another group of adolescent patients.

After his Fellowship at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, Doctor Enzer continued his learning about Group Medical Psychotherapy. He consulted about his private Group Medical Psychotherapy work for approximately 125 hours with Fedor Hagenauer, M.D. and 25 hours with Robert Kunkel, M.D.
